Just when you think you've got the knack of keeping up with a five-year-old, and, therefore, can deal with anything, try a five and a four. More than twice the effort. I think it's a logarithmic progression, instead. Last night, the boys had a 9:30 bedtime. Tonight, it's 8:30, because all the parental sorts are flat-out knackered from even attempting to keep up with them.

No crises, though today. No kiddie meltdowns. Everyone has been pretty well behaved. Maybe even too well-behaved. Just hope the boys haven't plotted something and arranged to kill us all in the night. So, if you happen to see a pair of little guys driving around Seattle by themselves, it's probably the junior James Gang here. They should be considered armed (each has two) and extremely dangerous.

And, yes, well-behaved applies to the adults as well. Nothing really stunningly earth-shattering to report on that front, not that it was any of your business. Everyone seems to relate well with each of the other two, and we're working at the communication issues which invariably arise when anything other than a group of psychics and mindreaders enters into something approximating a relationship.

Try having two and adding an outside third. o_0 I thought it would be easy, hah!

And somehow, I think even mindreaders would have problems with relationships. :P

That's exactly the situation. Ours are five years and eight weeks. Hers is four.

Oh, that's right, I'd forgotten about the baby. Try 6.5, 8 & 9 year old boys though. ;)

Yup, the energy expended increases exponentially.
For me...it was two years difference between my last two and six between my first two.
*sighs*

I have great admiration for the poly-inclined 'cause I could never muster the sheer energy needed, m'self! :b That's why we take the easy way out and just have an open relationship (though this year we've looked frighteningly monogamous....)

Um... an open relationship is poly. Or at least one form of it, as I understand the term. Why do you think it isn't?

Yeah, I know it's splitting hairs...and I've been in this debate many times, basically with the debating parties agreeing to disagree. ;) To ME, polyamory means more than one partner - not just in a sexual context, but actually building a LTR with more than one person. Lots of work, thus my admiration for those who go that route. :) Me 'n my guy, we take the "easy" way in that we just have sex with other guys (and yes, possibly more than once and possibly actually befriending some) but the relationship itself is closed in that we don't want a third party moving in, sharing chores, bank accounts, etc. Clear as mud? Maybe we're "monoamorous" but "polysexual"? Ahhhhhh, labels...

Ah. Well, there's more than one way to do poly. Some might call what you do more polysexual or swinging, but I'm one of those irritants to the Highly Evolved and classify more things as polyamory than building group marriages. I have two relationships other than my husband with people I wouldn't merge bank accounts with if you paid me. However, we are very close emotionally and also have sexual relationships with each other. Something of a gray zone between "fuck them but don't fall for them" and "only fuck the ones you share your house with".

Two sounds like a breeze after living with seven for over a decade. Though I am a bit out or practice now, so two would probably overwhelm me until I got back into the swing of things. :)

i am an only child from a house with parents who had lots of outside interests. Living with a husband was a big adjustment. Husband and 1 kid, ok, but odd. Husband and 2 kids, bordering on overwhelming. Husband, 2 kids, dear one, and another kid, almost enough to send me running to the loony bin just for some privacy and peace. :D
