Well, i've tried to work out how to "write" for the Morrigan the way i did for Brighid. Haven't come up with anything i'd show anyone, and largely have reached the conclusion that i'd need to be able to write it in Old Celtic, corvid or she-wolf.
I think i have figured out one way to illustrate how i see Her, though. I'll need a volunteer from the studio audience ;-)
Basically, what's crystallizing in my mind's eye is a photographic series, shot at Rosario Beach, probably in standard black and white (this doesn't feel like an IR project) with a female model (uh, yeah- guys don't get to play a goddess) who fits a few basic guidelines:
  • Reasonably tall- probably 5'9"+
  • Solidly built with fairly broad shoulders
  • Shoulder length or longer dark hair
  • The ability to project an air of self-confidence (read: *attitude*)
  • Willing to hold bladed weapons and pose in exchange for prints.

In the next few days, i'll try to play in Poser (since it'd be relatively quick) a bit and try to come up with a rough CG image of the sort of thing i want to do, because trying to 'splain it just isn't going to work.
  • Will a Brit do?!

Hmmm... {starts to leap up and down, enthusiastically} I'll do it! I'll do it! ;)

If you can make it to Seattle, I'll drive you to Rosario. Thought you were a redhead, though, and not quite as sturdy as the image i have. Still, there are some possibilities. I could see you playing Medbh quite easily, though.

No Brits need apply. Unless she's cute, in which case she can come model for me. ::evil grin::

I'm about two inches shorter than your description and maybe a bit plumper than you'd want, but broad-shouldered, ability to show confidence, and willingness to hold bladed weapons (and look like I know what I'm doing thanks to my t'ai chi classes), I got in spades. So I'd have to go to Washington state again. Boo fricking hoo. I'm getting the feeling that the DH and I will end up there within five years, anyway.

I also tried honoring the Phantom Queen in verse, and kept hitting a brick wall. Trying to write poetry of that depth of chthonic dark was just too daunting when I tried. It's something for me to consider trying again, though.

Actually, she's quite cute, and has links to Mannin.
You and i should get together and shoot some day. I'll even bring my Soviet camera in case either of us gets the notion to play with medium format.

You carry yourself with the right attitude- which is the most important factor. I'll be sure to post the CG images publically so that other people can get a concept of what i'm seeing.

So- you think you'll end up moving up here? That would so rock.

Yes, we should get together and shoot some photos. That would be fun.

Yes, we need more Celtic types up here in Seattle. It sometimes feels like a wasteland.

I'm noticing more and more that the SF Bay Area, much as I love it, is too expensive for me to live much better than I am now without an extreme shift in my financial situation or some miraculous combination of me keeping my job while the economy here goes down the pipes for three years solid. And Bob calls Seattle home, and misses it more as the years pass. I could probably settle in quite nicely if we landed in Fremont or one of the nicer yet not too yuppiefied suburbs. We also have other friends that live there aside from yourself and Danielle, so we'd already have a social circle or two built-in. It's just a small current in my mind that could turn into a large one over time.

I've done attitude shoots before - that's pretty much what the prof stuff I've done (for no money to support a starving artist who seems to have a decent talent building).

I am very heavy, but I carry it quite well (thanks to my youth, I suspect) and I have a lot of attitude... I like playing to the lens, it's like acting. I have a body frame that matches my weight, and have naturally broad shoulders (bone structure, etc) ... Okay so you know that,

If you're interested in a larger model (48"/40"/52") with very pale (victorian quality) skin and curly longish hair,

Or you can look at my userpix on here, the two of me are both by the same photographer (he has some really old ones of me at www.markwalling.com). I'm interested in doing all sorts of modeling for photography if the person's respectful.

Good luck finding the perfect model!

Is this a standing offer? I'm just starting to contemplate shooting again after not having done so since moving to Seattle over five years ago. I spent a few years working part-time professionally and/or semi-professionally in Florida before moving out here. It has been long enough now that i'm wondering what, if any, vision i have left for such things.
I try to always be respectful- it's more a part of my persnal code of honour han anything else.

As for larger women, i have a personal weakness for them. You're not significantly different dimensionally than my wife, but her hair is straighter. It might be fun to do something with the two of you sometime- writing this there's a vague iea floating around, but it hasn't coalesced into anything solid yet that doesn't require studio eqipment i neither own nor can afford.

I've done two-girl shoots before... I tend to find other exhibitionists like myself, good friends who wouldn't be squicked - two girl shoots are good for helping the women feel "safe" and it can be a great way to get humor going.

Sure, as long as I just give my obligatory "*just* modeling" disclaimer and I always have to meet you & see some of your work before making a decision... but if nothing else I've got a good eye for composition and can help you with developing your ideas more fully if you are interested. I like photography, I have a natural knack for it but my technical skills suck major ass. :) So I stick to being the family snapshot person & just do modeling. :)
