Well, i've tried to work out how to "write" for the Morrigan the way i did for Brighid. Haven't come up with anything i'd show anyone, and largely have reached the conclusion that i'd need to be able to write it in Old Celtic, corvid or she-wolf.
I think i have figured out one way to illustrate how i see Her, though. I'll need a volunteer from the studio audience ;-)
Basically, what's crystallizing in my mind's eye is a photographic series, shot at Rosario Beach, probably in standard black and white (this doesn't feel like an IR project) with a female model (uh, yeah- guys don't get to play a goddess) who fits a few basic guidelines:
  • Reasonably tall- probably 5'9"+
  • Solidly built with fairly broad shoulders
  • Shoulder length or longer dark hair
  • The ability to project an air of self-confidence (read: *attitude*)
  • Willing to hold bladed weapons and pose in exchange for prints.

In the next few days, i'll try to play in Poser (since it'd be relatively quick) a bit and try to come up with a rough CG image of the sort of thing i want to do, because trying to 'splain it just isn't going to work.

I'm about two inches shorter than your description and maybe a bit plumper than you'd want, but broad-shouldered, ability to show confidence, and willingness to hold bladed weapons (and look like I know what I'm doing thanks to my t'ai chi classes), I got in spades. So I'd have to go to Washington state again. Boo fricking hoo. I'm getting the feeling that the DH and I will end up there within five years, anyway.

I also tried honoring the Phantom Queen in verse, and kept hitting a brick wall. Trying to write poetry of that depth of chthonic dark was just too daunting when I tried. It's something for me to consider trying again, though.

You carry yourself with the right attitude- which is the most important factor. I'll be sure to post the CG images publically so that other people can get a concept of what i'm seeing.

So- you think you'll end up moving up here? That would so rock.

I'm noticing more and more that the SF Bay Area, much as I love it, is too expensive for me to live much better than I am now without an extreme shift in my financial situation or some miraculous combination of me keeping my job while the economy here goes down the pipes for three years solid. And Bob calls Seattle home, and misses it more as the years pass. I could probably settle in quite nicely if we landed in Fremont or one of the nicer yet not too yuppiefied suburbs. We also have other friends that live there aside from yourself and Danielle, so we'd already have a social circle or two built-in. It's just a small current in my mind that could turn into a large one over time.

Yes, we need more Celtic types up here in Seattle. It sometimes feels like a wasteland.
