Catnaps Rock!: A Play in Four Acts
Apr. 13th, 2002 11:18 amWell, the evening started as somewhat of a comedy of errors, but ended up very well. Not knowing that revseandoe was taking the day off from work, i sent him a planned itinerary a few hours before leaving work, and , not hearing anything, figured we were good to go from there. Posted to the seattlegoth LJ community inviting anyone who was in the area to drop in and say hi . Touched base with Christine to verify that the planned events worked for her and that she was still planning on coming down and meeting us at the Aurifice. Made preliminary plans to meet furrymouse at the Merc to meet, get introduced to people, and possibly serve as a gracious out from his blind date.
Well, now on to the first act: "A Comedy of Errors."
Since the good Reverend took the day off from work, he didn't get the itinerary, and got back to his place at about 9:30, an hour or so after i figured we'd meet, so i sat outside his apartment from 8 until 9:00, then figured we must have missed connections and headed down to the Aurifice, since i was in need of another dosage of the Divine Molecule. Realized about halfway there that i didn't remember exactly where it was, and took the nice scenic tour through Capitol Hill, realizing i missed a turn heading toward First Hill. Backtracked, and got a call from Christine, saying she was running late. There was a plus side to this- she had the address. Right after getting off the phone with her, the good Reverend rang up to say he'd just gotten in and would shower, dress and grab a bus down to meet us. By the time i found parking, it was 9:30ish.
Act Two: "Community"
It was a little cool and lightly misting by the time i got parked and headed to the Aurifice. Perfect cloak weather, as it happened, not to mention that it's just a fun garment to wear. Wearing an unusual piece of clothing is highly recommended anytime you may be meeting people you don't know, simply because it makes you identifiable.
Just arrived at Aurifice, and met ironcat and Julia (i hope i'm remembering her name correctly, and not fouling it up because she reminded me of another expatriate acquaintance named Yulina in more than a passing way). Vstalatye, lyudi russky'ie... (now i remember, yet again, why i don't type Russian on a Latin-character keyboard- everything looks misspelled when i transliterate). Some meetings are too coincidental to be the product of mere chance. How many Russian-born, pagan folk are there in the Seattle goth community who at least dabble in graphic arts, and use Poser, 3ds max, Maya etc.? Excellent to meet you, Martyn, and i'm sure we'll run into each other again. I'll try to have some of my graphics arts stuff posted on my website by then, and will have a go at providing a better challenge at chess next time as well. At least i won't have the excuse that i haven't played since, oh, the 80s then ;-).
Christine arrived not too much later, and we all sat and talked and waited for revseandoe until about 11.
Act Three: "Much Ado About Very Little"
Figuring that perhaps the Reverend figured to catch up with Christine and me at the Vogue, or thereabouts, we adjourned in that direction, figuring that there was at least a chance i'd see someone who might have seen him, or that he might have been waiting for us there. Talked to Jean G. and her friend Tracy M. (whom i'd met before, although it's a wonder either of us were uniniebriated enough to remember), but no signs of him. After about 45 minutes there, we went next door, to the Bad JuJu to see if by some chance he was there. Almost missed connexions again, but happened to find him. None of us had any luck reaching any of the Merc members we know in non-electronic personality construct form, so we went back to the Vogue, where after about a half-hour, we pretty much reached the conclusion that it just wasn't happening for us there, so we headed off in search of another place to hang out. Ended up at the Comet, which was an entirely different experience. I kept waiting to see a fight break out, or for someone to mouth off at one of us long-haired guys. Neither happened, and we hung out there until closing. The Rev. even got in a pair of games of pool with an interestingly odd woman with burgandy, violet and black hair and nipple and navel piercings visible under her clothes. I wasn't completely sure she wasn't trying to pick one or more of us- no clear-cut indications which- up, but had rather that feeling. She ended up leaving with a flock of other people in the end at closing.
Back down to the vehicles, and then back to the U District.
Act Four: "Apres moi, le deluge"
Took the scenic tour back via downtown- either Christine made a wrong turn or was given a wrong direction, but got back intact. Hung out, watched a movie and some indie tv stuff until after five. Since Christine had to take her friend Becky to work at 11, she headed back home around then. She's such a little sweetie- i miss hanging out with her, but once she's working again, she says she'll be coming by more again :-).
Well, the boys crashed then- thankfully the rev.'s temporary roomie didn't make it home last night, so i crashed on the couch for a bit. Woke up at about 8, decided that since i was up and he likely wouldn't be for several hours, i'd just head home. Surprisingly, the two and a half to three hours sleep recharged my batteries a lot more than i thought they would, although i'm still thinking about napping when i finish this.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Hopefully we'll do it again sometime.
Curtain falls.

Date: 2002-04-15 12:36 pm (UTC)I had the distinct impression that she was looking for *someone* but couldn't figure out who. This upcoming weekend blows chunks for me, but maybe the one after that we can hit the Merc or something, unless you manage to score summa dat...
