Jun. 11th, 2006 07:38 pmToday,
damashita and i went to the season close of the Pacific Northwest Ballet, and watched the performance of Georges Balanchine's Jewels, which divides itself into three different works- the French Classical "Emeralds", the American neo-classical "Rubies", and the Russian traditional "Diamonds".
"Emeralds" felt very sterile. Technically precise, yes, but very detached and particularly inaccessible. "Rubies" was significantly brighter and more accessible, and "Diamonds" was my favourite of the set, with Carla Körbes in the principle role
