Well, today D. and i give the go/no-go on a major release. We're just tidying up the last little bits, and waiting for the last-minute showstopper bug to pop out, but most all of the stuff we've found in the past week has been minor, and has either gotten fixed on the fly or can easily be punted to the next maintenance release (in a week or two). All in all, it's pretty quiet. We're just waiting on a final build which has a couple of last-minute minor fixes checked into it, and are planning on verifying the last three bugs and then designating it as the release build.

And, this morning, confirmation of something from our HR department:
Reminder...this Friday, April 9th is Good Friday, and is also a company holiday.

No offense intended to the handful of Christian types who read this, but yaaay! for Dead-Guy-onna-stick Day(channelling C.M.O.T. Dibbler from Discworld for the moment). On a related, tangential note, what's supposed to be so Good about this particular Friday? It's during Pesach, where the weekly menu gets significantly less inspiring; and the people around at the time who were followers of said Dead Guy can't have thought it was a smashing good time, having just watched him tortured and executed. Seems like a big problem in the process which got over-spun by the Marketing Department, if you ask me, which of course you didn't.

Yaaaaay! Having taken off Monday, i now have Friday off as well. Three-day work weeks ROCK!
Next week, i'm taking Friday off; and we're planning on doing the Tulip Festival Street Fair on the weekend (so, if you're local and interested, consider this an invitation to join us in going up for it, and it's possible that we'll have an open seat in the van now that it's back).

And finally, if anyone's still reading, happy birthday wishes go out today to [livejournal.com profile] onlyjanica. :-)

Well, [livejournal.com profile] gwynn_aaron and [livejournal.com profile] ithilien are no longer the proud tenants of a shipping container full o' household. Apparently, it arrived around 11 a.m., and the last bits were removed from it right around 7 this evening. Now, things are either in storage or in their new home; and the two of them, [livejournal.com profile] wilson_lizard, and i will be reminded that we used muscle groups which are all-too-often neglected quite a bit tomorrow morning.

Now they have the fun job of unpacking. Can't say i envy them that one bit.

Anyway, the NHL playoffs started today. After spotting the Nashvegas Predators a 1-0 lead early in the game, the Detroit Red Wings rode a three-goal third period to a 1-0 series lead, and are now only fifteen wins away from skating the Stanley Cup. In today's other games, Boston blanked Montreal, Vancouver outlasted Calgary, and Colorado topped Dallas.

Tomorrow, the Ottawa Senators start their march to the Finals against the Toronto Maple Leafs. If the Wings don't get to win, Ottawa can. Go Sens!
