May. 10th, 2003 10:30 pmToday didn't start too auspiciously. Alexander didn't want to get up, and then fiddled around long enough that he missed his skating lesson, for which he then started blaming me. Nope, son, not my fault. Even though i couldn't get to sleep until after 4:30, i was up at 7:30 getting things set to go.
He's obviously going through some things- the pre-baby stuff. At times he's seemingly lapsing into infantilism- pretending to be crying for no apparent reason, refusing to speak comprehensibly. But he's also being incredibly sweet and huggy. I think he's going to be a terrific big brother, but adjusting to not being the sole focus of attention may take a bit. Only makes sense that he'd be going through adjustments, because i know
damashita and i are. Elfie's cleared for arrival on Monday (37 weeks), so we'll be on heightened alert waiting to meet this new little person.
Given the response to the dream post from a few days ago, i'm considering fleshing the dream out into a short piece of fiction. What do you folk think- is it something you think you'd be interested in reading. One way or another, getting something started creatively, even if it's a smut vignette, may be what it takes to get working on the novel again. I've been thinking about a section of the plot which was presenting itself as a bit of a potential problem, and have come up with a work around it, as well as a way to play seanachie and roll a few more bits of legend into the retelling of The Voyage of Maleduin's Boat.
And now for something completely different:
I've found The Perfect Job™ for
mahariel or
revseandoe. The one downside is the location— it's in Portland— but it's sure to be a unique position. Information is here.
Given last night's three hours of sleep, i'm totally ragged out now. Had considered going out to the Mercury, but as of about 7 it became crystal clear that i'm just Too Damned TIRED™, so going to call it a night
