Found Money

I love my credit union. It's nice being able to call them up and play with money.
In this case, i moved money today from my checking account (which i haven't had cheques for for about three years) into the joint account (for which we do have cheques).
Last statements arrived on Friday, and, as usual, they showed no traffic on my account. What it did show, however, was a balance of nearly $650, which was a big surprise to me, since that figure is about 100 times more than what i thought was in the account (and why i haven't bothered to re-order cheques).
No, it's not mad money, at least not much of it. Most, if not all, of it is already earmarked for something.

Today we had our weekly meeting of everyone who reports to or reports to someone who reports to my boss' boss. Sounds like it'd be an impressive gathering, but it's not that big- there are two leads who report to him, each with three or four people who work for them.
Anyway, the topic of what setup automation is doing came up. It looks as if i'm going to be responsible for three to four automation runs a week once we get everything up and going, each on a particular day, with the remainder of my week allocated to investigating automation failures and creating new scripts.
So, after the meeting, Jerry, who's the SDET i work most closely with comes up and asks me if anyone has talked with me about reporting to his boss instead of the one i have now, because it looks as if i'm going to be doing nothing but automation now, and should be in the reporting structure of the automation team accordingly.
This would be a good thing. Not quite as good as getting comparable pay working on games somewhere, but it'd let me work on assignments that were continually dynamic as well as work for someone with whom there's some degree of respect.
Hopefully, i'll get my Samhain wish- although at present it doesn't look at all like what i was thinking it might be. I'll take it as a blessing in whatever form it comes, though.
