After a full week at work, i'd like to get out and do something this evening to de-stress. Spent last night lazing around the house in shorts and a Traktor Chelyabinsk hockey jersey (i have no particular attachment to the team or the city-SKA St. Petersburg is the team in the Russian Hockey League i follow, but the design on the jersey is one of the best i've seen anywhere)
I'm not really feeling large-scale social enough at present to go out to the Merc. What i'd like to do would be to hang out with one to three people somewhere ( i dunno- Fadó, Irish Emigrant, Kells etc.- someplace with a little character that's not a dive) where it's possible to have a drink or two and a bit of conversation, but i don't really know of anyone who'd be up for such an outing, other than perhaps
gwynn_aaron and
ithilien, but they don't live out here yet. Similarly with
lysana and
blackfyr- they're entrenched in the Bay Area, although hopefully they'll make it up next July.
So, do i force myself into social mode and try the Merc tonight, just stay home and vegetate and watch hockey, is someone up for something this evening, or does anyone have any other ideas? Hmm. The Thunderbirds play at home tonight, but i think the cheapest seats are in the $12 range, and that makes for a hell of a cover charge to watch what's often bad hockey.
Update: 1:10. According to the T-birds website, upper ring seats in the corners go as low as $8 each. Still a bit steep.
