Gothee talk
Oct. 9th, 2002 10:56 pmStarted the evening with the pre-coffee group at Linda's, including
icequeen669 and
mediavore, both of whom arrived after i got there. As Jim (who started the traditional gathering there) says, some people who show up at coffee are easier to put up with after a few drinks, after all. A nip of Jameson's helped dispell my generally grouchy mood and just reduce it to a slightly less than completely social one. Over to coffee afterwards. Saw
heddo98 and
transcendence1, who made the long trek down from Skagit County that i used to make and don't miss at all, for the first time in months. Talked with a few of the standard wonderful people, many for less time than i'd have liked, but such is standard for coffee. Even met a new person at coffee for the first time in months (actually, i think we may have met once before, but i couldn't remember who she was). Hiya,
dove! See, i remembered your LJ name long enough to make it home.
Not particularly looking to going back to work on Friday. Must remind myself that i'm only there as long as it takes me to find something else, soit's in my best interest to motivate my lazy ass into finding another job.
Feeling generally blah of late- i think it's largely due to the imminent end of my time away from work, augmented by the change in weather and daylight, although the cool, crisp, overcast days are wonderful (and my favourite time of year).
One thing, though. I need to exercise and to eat regularly. As of last Friday, when i was at the doctor's office, my weight's down again. This time of year, i should be rounding into hockey shape, and around 175 pounds. Instead, i'm feeling squishy around the midsection and under 160. :-(
The U of W's Experimental College hosts weekly soccer leagues- i'm thinking about joining the Saturday one and playing as a goaltender. I think i'm in decent enough shape to play rec-league goal, even if i'm not in shape to run 90 minutes a game.
Or in-line skating. I'd like to start skating again regularly, but i'm not likely to do it alone. Any takers there?
And hopefully i'll be able to find adult drop-in hockey some evening and play a little hockey. Always makes me feel better being able to get out on the ice, and it's one of the times when my knee regularly doesn't hurt. Fortunately, now there are a few rinks within reasonable driving distance- as opposed to pre-move, when the closest one was in Bellingham, and the only time they had adult dropin was luinch-time during the week or 7 a.m. on Sundays.
