First, a little background information.

Company A wants to interview me for a test position. On the positive side, it'd be working again, and the company makes game software. On the negative side, even the top end of the payscale for this particular position would be about a 40% paycut. Assuming they offerred the top end, i'd make about $30 more a week after taxes than i do on unemployment- and this doesn't include transportation costs or anything else. Assuming a monthly bus pass runs about $50, if it's not included as an employment perk (and the company is located in Belltown, so there's not much parking around- bussing to work would be definitely cheaper than parking downtown, so it's likely at least suggested), we're ostensibly looking at a monthly difference of $70, possibly less.

Well, Susan and I both have been unable to find work for over four months now. That being said, I'd advise you to take what you can get if it's offered. There's nothing to stop you from still looking for something better, and it's at least got to have health insurance so you'll be covered with that and not have to pay for it out-of-pocket, right? I totally understand not wanting to take it, but from someone else in your position let me just say that I think it would be incredibly foolish to *not* take it and assume something better will come along. We thought something would come along, *period*, and it's been four months and still nothing has. If you get an offer, go for it.
