Yahoogroups finally responded....
Predictably, though, here's what they said:

Interestingly enough, that's how i got in contact with them in the first place....
By now i've resubscribed to most of the lists i was on previously. Unfortunately, PMC, the list i own is a list which requires moderator approval to join, and with the owner/moderator trying to resubscribe, i'm not sure where the approval e-mail is going. Then there are the Imbas-members and council lists, which are presently without an active owner because of the current flux within the organization. I'm not sure my presence will make any difference, but hadn't planned on leaving without making that determination for sure.*sigh* Regardless, i think the council owes the membership some sort of voice in the whole thing as far as determining the future of the organization. If they're apathetic, so be it, and only a few of us would miss the group.

Anyway, back to the joy of testing Arabic software.

Gilbride (Chris Thompson) is the owner of record for the Imbas lists. They've been dead like a can of Spam for days, though (I'm thinking you nominated me to rearrange the deck chairs on the iceberg that hit the Titanic ;>).

As for Yahoo's stellar customer service, my husband went through nine hells trying to get them to send him his password when their DB seemed to have the wrong info on him. Their emails were just as recursive as the one you quote. Finally, I looked at one of the mailing lists we're both on and pointed out the one character in his username that he'd been lacking. He was able to log on to manage his accounts once again, no thanks to Yahoo. He came within inches of going to their corporate offices and asking to talk to someone face-to-face over the whole thing.

I'm not quite ready to give up yet. I think (as noted) we at least owe the members at-large the chance to have some say as whether we start pulling the organization back together or not. I'm wondering if people aren't active because they don't care, or if they really don't realize where things stand. I know personally before volunteering to step in and try to do whatever, i didn't realize where there were things which needed to be done. Accordingly, this is probably why i'm not quite ready to throw in the towel, even if it's just some of the nerve fibres of the body failing to realize that there isn't heart or brain activity still underway.

I agree that the members need a shot, though the gods know they've been just as apathetic as the council. I'm thinking we need to ask the following:

1) Do you want Imbas to stay alive?

2) What do you want from it as an organization?

3) What are you personally willing to do in order to bring that about?

If the answers to #3 aren't enough to balance 1 and 2, we may have to surrender the field.

Agreed. So, while i wait for Mr. Thompson to add me back to the lists, do you want to fire this as an opeing salvo, or do you want to wait until there's at least moral support?
