ravencallscrowsIt has been an odd day so far. Started early- meeting inanna's mom to reclaim alexander and have breakfast, then we all went to what was billed as "the largest rummage sale in Skagit County" at the county fairgrounds, and found it to be considerably less than expected, mainly just a large collection of assorted junk.
This weekend kicks off the month-long Tulip Festival (Skagit County's claim to fame- growers here export tulips all over the world, including places like the Netherlands, which are known for their tulips), never mind that daffodils are pretty much the only things up in any quantities in the fields. It's always pretty when the fields are brightly coloured, but the downside of the whole thing is that in the space of a month, the infrastructure of a county of thirty thousand gets swamped by somewhere in the vicinity of two million visitors every weekend during the month of April. Forutnately, we're just off the main roads here, and for the most part aren't in that much proximity to the tulip fields. Still, it's enough additional traffic everywhere to make a resident want to either
a) never leave the house during tulip season; or
b) spend the month in Seattle or Vancouver.
Anyway, it has been suggested that since next weekend is open, but the one following completely booked that i go out next Friday somewhere for 'recreation' and an early birthday celebration.
That got me thinking. Most of my friends- LJ or otherwise- in the Seattle area either are part of the Seattle goth crowd, or don't consider themselves goths but have several of the signs indicative of gothdom, or just hang out at places populated by or which play music designed to appeal to goths. So... who'd be interested in hanging out with me next Friday night? You're under no obligation to buy me drinks, and are actually probably going to be discouraged from doing so after the first one or two (which i'm perfectly capable of buying for myself). Any ideas of where to congregate and/or head afterwards?
