Apr. 4th, 2002 03:18 pmEver wonder why using the 'Net takes so much longer some times than others? Ever wish you could see where the snarls and problems are when you hit a page and it takes an inordinately long amount of time to load? The Internet Traffic Report might be just the trick for you. It shows internet traffic, router response times, and packet loss data for various chunks of the world (North American data shown in the cited page, but Europe, Asia, Australia and South America are also available).
At present, I've been trying to get to a particular website for about two hours today with absolutely no luck. Checking ITR showed that two of the four main backbone routers in Seattle to be offline, with similar outages in Anaheim, Chicago, Michigan, Quebec, San Jose and Texas; and significant slowdowns in Phoenix, Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey.
Think that might have something to do with it?
