Mar. 8th, 2002 12:08 pmWhen you wake up in the morning, 60+ miles from work, and the first words you hear when flipping for a weather report are "405 is a solid sheet of ice" and you live in the Seacouver area (Seattle-Vancouver,BC) where people don't get any practice driving in winter weather and drive badly enough in the rain (a condition under which they get lots of practice) that it can be really dangerous, thoughts turn to making the weekend start early. I certainly didn't want a southbound reprise of last night's drive home, only to turn around and get to do it again, and there are a pair of really nasty hills in the way, so the weekend started early.
Took alexander for a walk, just to get him out and active. Went over to the mall, which was predictably dead- just the old people finishing their morning exercise and a handful of parents out walking their kids. Talked with Christine a bit- she was out of her store getting chai. Tried to calm her down- sjhe was stressing big-time about having a meeting with her district manager and corporate loss-prevention manager about the store having a high shrink rate. Poor t'ing! Said we'd stop back over around 2:30 to see how it all went. I suddenly feel a bit better about my job- it's not in peril from circumstances beyond my control.
