For the first time in months, I managed to make the local Celtic Reconstructionist gathering, and brought
maighdeanmhara along to give her a little perspective of what practitioners muddling through pre-Christian Celtic tradition do. Thinking about it in extract, we did have some similarities- althought not in the same context as the Catholic Church observes Communion, we did have a shared nibble of bannock and sips of not one but a pair of oisge beatha. Aside from that, we had a sock-puppet show and crafts. What's not to like about that? I think, though, that it's the sock puppet that made all the difference. I don't think they play a prominent role in Roman Catholicism, of the Irish sort or any other.
