May. 9th, 2008 08:01 pmNot sure what sort of plant this is, but love the way it catches water droplets.
I think this is a flowering red currant. Anyone capable of confirming this?
The whole batch of these, if anyone's interested, is here.
Cape Disappointment and North Head
May. 9th, 2008 09:41 pmNorth Head Assistant Lighthouse Keeper's House: This is the original residence of the assistant lighthouse keepers at North Head. The entryway on the right leads to the senior assistant's residence, mirrored by one on the left for the junior assistant. Both sides of this duplex are two-story, three bedroom houses. The lighthouse keeper's residence is out of frame to the right- and is about eighty percent as large as these two combined.
Gulls Holding Station: North Head is said to be one of the windiest and foggiest places in North America. I don't think the winds ever dropped below 15 knots, and were at times significantly higher. At the point this picture was taken, the winds were strong enough that the gulls were barely holding station- and at times, fly as they might, they were going backwards. This makes me think of Cape Spear- both in temperament of the place and general appearance (at least the new lighthouse)- on the opposite end of the continent.
The rest of this set, for anyone interested, are here.
