Tonight is beginning to sound like a night to curl up with a good book. I've done a lot of reading in the last two weeks around and during the intermissions of playoff hockey games. Wings better win tomorrow night, although i'm beginning to wonder if anyone can keep up with the Senators for seven games. Watching a Wings-Sens final would be stellar- even if it'd be tough to pick sides.

There was something else about which i was going to write, but i got to staring out the window (our windows are old enough that there's a little bit of rippling to the glass) and distracted myself enough to forget what it was.

Edit: five minutes later
Now i remember what it was! Folklife is this weekend. They've raised the suggested donation this year from $5 per person per day to $10. I can't help but think that that's a mistake. I understand the need to bring in money to fund the whole thing, but i'd about bet that doubling the suggested amount will have a detrimental effect on funding.

We've got a friend who will be playing one day, i'd like to catch the maritime and Gaelic songs and some taiko drumming- which probably would equate to attending three days- but no less than two. Multiply that by a family of four and you've got eighty dollars or a hundred and twenty, all for the privilege to fight through throngs of people for the fifteen minutes of each set before one or both of the boys gets fidgety.

On the other hand, if there were donation areas outside each particular venue, i'd be more likely to chip in a dollar or two a head for everything we actually attend. Am i alone in this? Does anyone else have a similar inclination or think that doing it that way would actually raise more money?
