Gah!

I've been working on a PowerPoint presentation covering why we're shifting development frameworks to be given to audiences both within the technology group and in other groups throughout the enterprise.

A lot of what's in the foundation of the new framework just strikes me as common sense- things like "In order to succeed, a project needs to have a well defined business value and requires a shared, common vision among the participants, as long as that vision isn't so rigid as to prohibit change should there be adequate need. Good open communication is an essential, and everyone needs not only to realize that their role is essential, but that at times they may need to collaborate with people in other roles to get something done."

So, I'm writing content which seems to be trying to convince people that common sense is really a good thing, and that they'll be able to succeed as individuals and as teams if they make sure that as much of the time as possible they're doing the logical thing.

Something in my reptilian hindbrain is insisting that adults and professionals at that shouldn't need to be taught these things. Has society devolved— or perhaps individualized— to the level where it is essential to codify these things? Even worse, in trying to write something about things which seem to be such core essentials for living (completely aside from the processes of creating software or working as coherent teams), i'm having to go back and rewrite things so that they don't succumb to either the saccharine or the sarcastic, while at the same time not coming off as a bombastic pedagogue (i keep hearing Dr. Phil, whom i absolutely despise, lecturing in the back of my head from the text i'm writing *shudder*).

What's worse is that down in the kishkes, i know that there are people who aren't going to get it, no matter how much handholding goes on or how rational the whole thing seems to be.
