Random and Disconnected Bits and Bobs

• We just interviewed a candidate for one of the temp test positions we have open. So not impressed. Daniel and i pretty much ran out of things to ask him after about ten minutes, and handed his resume off to daemonwolf and Cori (since the four of us share an office, they were already here) to see if they could find something so we didn't just dismiss him forthwith- and maybe gave him a chance to shine because they asked something differently than we did.


• I really like the shirt i'm wearing to work today. It's sand-finished silk, and laces up the front from just below the zyphoid process. It's a sagey green- the only ways it could be better would be if it were purple or black, but i'm not complaining. I've got a black lace up (not quite as far) and a purple button up which comes close. All about the pettable attire, don'tcha know. ;-)


• I'm cranky about work. Our workflow now sucks, and i keep waiting on developers to check in their little bits of whatever it is they're working on, and, to date, pretty much all they're doing is revising UI, so i'm doing a lot of sitting and waiting for checkins with very little test implication (did the new toolbar show up? is there data in the datagrid?); but when they start actually doing things which involve data manipulation, it's going to suck. lokheed is going to be joining the dev group on this project soon, and his work is always pretty good. The downside to that is that then there will be three developers coding the damn thing, and i'm the only test resource.


• Looking at the projects which are in one degree of progress or another, we've got eight different things with release dates before the middle of the year. That's twice the number of skilled testers we have on board in a full-time capacity. :-[


• If you read this at all, you've heard me bitch about time in meetings. Just in case you think i've been exaggerating, here are screenshots of my Outlook calendar:
  
  Most of these haven't been optional. All i can say is that i'm damn fortunate not to have had huge amounts of work which needed to be done.


• When i'm not in meetings, i have some really wonderful people who are nice enough to keep me occupied on IM and the like while i'm waiting for things to be done.

Well, damashita is off at the Grind with mistress_gaelan; the boys have had their baths and are clean, and i think i'm off to try to get scootercomputer to go to sleep. Think i'll put on My Fair Lady and lust over a young Audrey Hepburn.
