Something unusual happened this morning.

[livejournal.com profile] damashita and i actually managed to talk about stuff for almost twenty minutes without having little boys interrupt. I can't remember the last time that happened- it may have been over six years ago, when there weren't little boys around, but more likely it has crept in a time or two since. One would think that it'd be a memorable enough event that the dates would stick, but they haven't.

Real, honest-to-gods communication. Whodathunkit? And not about particularly easy topics, either. The Grind, and behaviours she has witnessed at the Wet Spot; what's going on with Nelda and me; the evolution of communication- we've noticed some fairly significant improvements over the way we've tried in the past; and where our libidos are going or not going, combined with concerns about how other developments might influence them.

Then it was time to go to work. *sigh*

On the positive side, Air America's answer to right-wing talk radio is coming in via its web feed, and Daniel and i are both sitting at our desks mucking through our Friday listening (as we found out the first time one of us heard someone say something funny and the other laughed). It's nice to have some sort of political talk option that's not Limbaugh, Medved, Hannity and their ilk. I'll take Randi Rhoades, Janeane Garofalo and Al Franken over them any day.

Or maybe not. Previous comments in this space about significant communication improvements may have proven to be sadly premature. Perhaps i shan't jump the gun next time, or just restrict my commentary to irrelevancies.

It's a pretty day here in Seattle. It's 63° Fahrenheit- 17° Celsius. Winds from the north at 8 mph/13km/h. Tree pollen levels are moderate, with birch being the leading pollinator, and grass pollen levels are low. Projections for tomorrow show the temperatures at 67°/19° and mostly sunny skies.
