Jan. 7th, 2004 01:15 pmThere are days it's really handy to work for a company which has a VPN for employees to use when working from home. The roads&mdash probably not the main arterials, but the side streets needed to get to the arterials— are slicker than snot on a doorknob. Just about everyone e-mailed in "Working from home" this morning with varying plans for the afternoon. I figured i'd try making it in by noon, and went out to the car a little after eleven. Almost falling three times on the way should have been a sign, but it wasn't.
Successfully got out of the driveway and the alley. Got onto Bertona and promptly slid from the alley down the hill to 21st Avenue— didn't seem to make a difference if the car was in gear or not, it still skated down the hill, even with me standing on the brakes. That was the sign. Took 22nd up to Ruffner, turned right back into the driveway, and promptly failed to get the car pulled all the way up the driveway. At least it's clear of the alley.
On a completely different note, the quote of the day, courtesy of the Gàidhlig-B mailing list:
'S b' fheàrr anochd bhith riut sìnte na mìle bò chiar. In translation, "I would rather sleep with you tonight than with a thousand black cattle" Some pick-up line, nu?
