Wheee!
Another day all but wasted at work- our build process is still fubared. General rule of the software industry: whenever there's more than one part moving at a time, something's going to get broken. In this case, we had new code checked in, a new person building, and a new system of labelling code branches which hasn't been completely streamlined (and the guy who came up with the concept left to work somewhere else). So, new check-ins and two other moving parts. It's broken thoroughly.
One of the problems was a code defect, which
lokheed isolated and fixed. The rest? Well, we were broken before the holiday, and still are. As of noon today the person who was looking into it was projecting that it might take him a day or two to derive a feasible process. So the testers on my team (both of us) sit and wait on the fix. Nothing exciting there.
In other notes, there's now a rough translation into Russian of The Night Heavens posted in the comments
here- it's a quick job, primarily machine translation, but scanned and corrected in a few places. No effort has been taken to turn it into poetic Russian yet.
