(no subject)

Two notable things to mention today:

1. Alexander got his very first pair of hockey skates today. On clearance at Target, CCM's adjustable skates for boys- three sizes worth in one skate boot, under ten bucks. Little mini Tacks- although in this size range, they're called Tykes. Too damn funny. Now i just have to take them in and get 'em sharpened (and will probably take mine as well, since they're due), and start teaching him to skate. Boy's already got his Red Wings jersey, so he's in good shape. He's going to learn to play too. Given his size, he'll probably end up as a defenceman or a power forward, but i'm going to try to teach him some of the European-style finesse game too.


2. Six years ago today, i moved to the Pacific Northwest. Got on an airplane in Tampa, Florida wearing my great kilt, spent the first part of the flight (which connected into SeaTac from Houston) explaining to the bunch of skydivers sitting next to me why i was dressed that way (since i'd never met damashita before, it was a guaranteed way to be spotted) and letting them buy me drinks (i still don't refuse people wanting to buy me copious amounts of alcohol). Yup. Six years. No regrets.
