Heard one of the most amusing- and stereotypically Canadian- radio contests i've ever heard on the drive in this morning, on one of my favourite radio stations- the Q in Victoria, BC. The big prize was a Roots Canada Olympic jacket. The objective was to be the first person to score against Q morning newsperson and (apparently) star goaltender, Kathleen Brandsma, who was in net and faced shooters about 25 feet away. She made about 30 saves before giving up a goal. It wasn't particularly great radio, but still, an amusing change from the run of the mill "be the nth caller who can tell me the answer to. . ." contests.

OK. I want to go on vacation.

Almost 2 weeks worth banked now, a few days of which will go for Norwescon, and a few more when Gwynn and Lauren are out here in June.

I want to go somewhere on vacation soon and not worry about how much it costs, which probably isn't going to happen this year, but hopefully soon.

Got the CD and touristy information from Nova Scotia in the mail yesterday- had sent off for it after we saw Natalie MacMaster performing in a CBC special a few months ago- has some really interesting music on it if you have any inclination toward Celtic-tinged folk- you can (i think) still get yours by going to this website. So now i've added one more set of places in the Maritimes to visit- Antigonish (the highest concentration of Gaelic speakers outside of the Gaeltach regions in Scotland and Ireland), Halifax and Sherbrooke; perhaps some of the Acadian areas to the existing places in Newfoundland and Labrador.
