Dec. 14th, 2003 07:45 pmLast year's budget for the annual company holiday party where i work, i've been told, was $120 per person. This year, the same per capita budget was $18. It was so less than spectacular that the corporate president kept apologizing to everyone and insisting that next year's would be at the Columbia Tower.
Got done with it, came home, and crashed early- i think i was in bed by 9:30, and pretty much absolutely wiped out at that. Slept in until about 10:30 Saturday morning. Such the exciting life i lead, nu?
Saturday's lowlight was a trip to Northgate Mall- initially supposed to be a visit to Target, but the parking was full there, so we braved the mall instead, foolish mortals that we are. Had Thomas Hardy written about a maddening crowd, i think we'd have been in the book. One thing for certain- the inmates are running the asylum.
Fortunately
ayeshadream saved the day by coming to visit for conversation amongst the over-twenty-five set, Iron Chef, Emmitt Otter and the History Channel. Finally, as the long night made its voyage into day, we discovered what happenned on the last Army Air Force mission of the Second World War, found about a plot to stage a coup to prevent Emperor Hirohito from announcing Japan's surrender, and heard the odd tale of a British frogman named Crabb.
After a bit of a nap (ok, so it was five hours or so), it was up and at it again, but nothing eventful worthy of mention today. Planning on heading to bed early whilst visions of skewered mallrats dance in my head.
