Eeeeee!

Quotes!

Thanks to everyone who has submitted one or more quotes so far. I've added a few as well, and the gamut runs from Dr. Frank N. Furter and Ferris Bueller to Wolfe Tone, Eleanor Roosevelt and Dwight David Eisenhower and to Jean Jacques Rousseau, Tom Stoppard, and Oscar Wilde.

In short, it's diverse and eclectic. But at only 27 quotes, it's also short. It's not too late to get your contributions in!

i like this quote a lot. :)

"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship."

"And at that moment there surged into the room a hoarse confused cry, in which the only clearly audible words were 'Less -- bread -- More -- taxes!' The old man laughed heartily. 'What in the world --' he was beginning; but the Chancellor heard him not. 'Some mistake!' he muttered, hurrying to the window, from which he shortly returned with an air of relief. 'Now listen!' he exclaimed, holding up his hand impressively. And now the words came quite distinctly, and with the regularity of a ticking clock, 'More -- bread -- Less -- taxes!'" --Lewis Carroll (Sylvie and Bruno)

Check your mailbox. Some of them may be less appropriate for a loyal subject of the Crown (there is at least one related to Irish Republicanism).

"There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it." -- Martha Graham

Witches have a saying: "Where there's fear, there is power." When the structures we create to carry out actions of resistance tell stories of regeneration, fear, despair, and rage can be transformed into the sustained creative energy we need to renew the world. - Starhawk, Dreaming The Dark. p. xv.
