I'm in a goofy mood. It's hockey season again. Tonight, we'll start with the Detroit Red Wings hosting the L.A. Kings, then watch at least a little of Calgary at Vancouver. CBC also has Ottawa's home opener against Montreal, but they're not showing it west of Ontario :-( CBC's broadcast teams are so much better than the ESPN ones- probably due to the hockey knowledge of their audiences- ESPN crews seem obliged to explain even the simplest rules repeatedly, and i usually want to poke John Davidson, Barry Melrose and Darren Pang with sharp sticks because they trend to the insipid. Oh- wait a minute! This week, the cable folk are doing a preview of Centre Ice, so all the games which are broadcast might be available. If not catching some of the Senators game tonight, i'll definitely look for it on Saturday, when Hockey Night In Canada has Montreal at Toronto *snore* as the early game across the network except for the Ottawa Valley, which gets the Red Wings at the Sens.

Last night Anaheim opened at Dallas, and not only did last year's playoff hero, Jean-Sebastien Giguere get badly beaten (4-1), but former Red Wing Sergei Federov, who passed up playing with an excellent team to be the star was -3 through two periods. Ha! Take that, Sergei, and get used to it. You don't have the players around you that you did in Detroit.

Oh, yeah. Blame greenshadows for starting a new trend. Not only did people get back to him about a job, i just got off the phone with someone who wants to interview me for a test position- and they're right down in Pioneer Square. May reduce my availability somewhat for my consulting clients *grin*, but i'll always make time to help them out.
