Well, on Saturday, we welcomed Riley Jane Dog to our household. All seemed well. Sunday, i started having a headache, which got worse on Monday, left me pretty short with everyone including myself Tuesday, and by 4 a.m. Wednesday had gotten bad enough that four ibuprofen, four aceteminophen, two allergy pills and an anti-histamene were necessary to take enough of an edge off of the pain so i could sleep. Sunrise found me still in pain, with an added sensitivity to sound and acute photosensitivity bad enough that i stayed in bed with a pillow pulled down over my eyes and ears until some time after noon.

We went out for a bit with just the boys (had some visitors up for coffee), and twenty minutes after leaving, my head stopped hurting. Fifteen minutes after getting back home, the pain had returned.

We finally found a dog that's personable, good with kids and cats... and i turn out to be allergic. I feel so bad about this.

In more cheerful news, went out to coffee tonight- and again, the headache went away. Got all maille geeky with jenblue, sat and cracked wise with her, khallis, mockly, taowulf and Tara (who's an LJer, i think, but i can't remember her name, and it's different than it is on the SeaGoth boards). Met a new friend of mediavore's, chattered with a few other folk as well.

Now i'm back home, and writing this quick recap before the headache returns.

It isn't your fault. It isn't Riley's either, which sucks. I don't envy you the job of explaining it to your son though, that is really going to be rough. I will do all I can to help ease things. Thanks for trying your best, and I'm really sorry it turned out thusly.

there is this stuff called Allergy Relief from Dogs if it is the dander that is making you react. a lot of people have said that it works well... you can usually find it at a local pet store, if you're interested in trying it out.

otherwise, i hope your headache gets less icky. =/

If it's a headache thing and the ibuprofin isn't strong enough, you might try neproxin, it's over the counter but not prescription... works well on my anatomy which has a tendency of denying pain killers... *wince*
