WYXT radio in Detroit is reporting that Sergei Federov is resigning with the Wings- terms of the deal are reported at four years, $32M.

Oddly, this is less than the 4/$40M reputedly offerred earlier by the team, but this was before Sergei threw his little fit and refused to resign. Looks like it cost him eight million dollars.

Apparently, after visits with Anaheim, Los Angeles, New York, and St. Louis, he had a change of heart, realizing no other organization could both pay him what he thinks he deserves and surround him with the calibre of players he plays with in Detroit. Stunning realization, isn't it? As if the second part of that were possible- show me one other NHL team with over five players who are all but guaranteed Hall of Famers, much less the likes of Lidstrom, Chelios, Yzerman, Shanahan, Hull, probably Hasek, possibly Larionov for his international play (hey, Paul Henderson is in the Hall, and he had ONE good tournament and a mediocre NHL career)....
