Jul. 11th, 2003 06:10 amWell, shortly
hottoastermama and her son J. will be on their way back to Michigan. It has been quite a week, and it'll probably take time to process it all. It'll seem strangely quiet around here without alexander and J. running around acting more like siblings than kids who hadn't met ten days ago. And it'll seem like something else is missing as well. As far as interpersonal relationship dynamics go, i'm simply amazed at how well the three adults meshed. Granted, we've all talked fairly extensively, but things carried over far better than i could have expected- or would have dared. So, last night, J. from next door came to keep tabs on the older boys after we'd gotten them to sleep and the three of us (with nicholas in tow, but he doesn't talk back or argue, and thus isn't a problem to take anywhere) headed out for coffee and a bit of grown-up time. We came back after about forty-five minutes and started bracing for this morning. The boys largely stayed asleep, which allowed us all to get a final cuddle until it was time to get up to take them off to the airport.
Amazing how quickly time changes things. All week, J. has been asking "When are we going home?" This morning on the way to the airport, the question was drastically different- "When are we coming back?" I think it was one the whole household here would reflect.
Off to get some sleep before alexander is ready to take on the day and it becomes impossible to do so (not to mention too warm in the house). Instead of closing with an eloquent and profound quote as
damashita has done, i'll leave you all instead with the words of the great philosopher Bear (he of Big Blue House fame) and Luna:
Goodbye, goodbye,
Good friends, goodbye,
For now it's time to go.
But hey, I say,
Well that's ok,
'Cause we'll see you very soon I know.
