To my Canadian friends: Happy Canada Day!

To those of you in the U.S. who think that there's no difference, or that Canada should be part of this country, i have the following to show you, inspired by S. J. Black, a Canadian Kiwi friend:

Ah, that'd be too much work, eh? Instead of an outright invasion, it's insidious- you'll find yourself watching The Red Green Show or This Hour Has 22 Minutes, then you'll start listening to The Tragically Hip or Great Big Sea, and finally you'll be able to find places like Ottawa, Toronto and Edmonton on a map. At that point, you might as well give up and vote Green or NDP, or, if you're seriously apolitical, just marry your same-sex life partner.

Too late.

[...] then you'll start listening to [...] Great Big Sea,

Uh, too late again. *getting worried*

and finally you'll be able to find places like Ottawa, Toronto and Edmonton on a map.

Ok, now I know I'm doomed.

Waitaminit. I grew up in Washington. Of course I don't have a problem with this. B.C is just Washington North, after all.

*Whew*

I ran the list myself. I've even applied for a job at the local Canadian consulate. *giggles*

I belong to that small NW tribe that believes in Cascadia...

a small country with closed boarders (nothing in/nothing out) that exists in the area currently known as Northern California to Alaska up the coast of the continent and inward to the foot of the rockies (encompassing WA, BC, OR, ID, AK). MM HMM!!

CASCADIA!!!!

Ah- like Caer Pugetia, which has the King/Pierce county boundary as its southern border, the Cascades as the eastern (figure Wenatchee, Levenworth, Winthrop), and ranges up through BC to about Whitehorse in the Yukon Territories. :-)

I was going to quote the episode where Homer calls Canada "America Jr.", but I can't find it.
