SQL is no longer the sole bane of my existance within Office. Within Windows, there's a nice little service that runs in conjunction with IIS called w3svc- it's essentially the service responsible for publishing to a designated web folder. Because the .Net services aren't fully integrated yet, I'm having to install each one of them seperately. Part of the process seems to include stopping w3svc, completing installation, then restarting it. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, it's refusing to consistently stop nicely. When it doesn't, it jams in a state somewhere between running and not running, requiring that the machine be rebooted before things can proceed. So, now, after reformatting the machine, reinstalling a clean OS, installing SQL server *ick*, installing SharePoint, and configuring *that* to connect to SQueaL, i'm installing these damn services one by one- probably 20 of them, and every time one of them tries to stop w3svc and it chokes, i have to reboot the machine. Up to reboot 12 now. Guess who's not a happy camper?

Somewhere in the middle of all this, i'd had enough, and went over and visited my friend Jon- talked work and hockey, primarily the latter- until i was relaxed enough to not want to throw things. Damn thing! Would someone please give me a nice Linux environment in which to work? Would someone please give me a job which didn't require that i spend all day installing these services so that when the next build comes out in a day or two i get to uninstall them all and reinstall the new versions? Would someone please give me a job where i get to be even the slightest bit creative? Please?
