Feb. 20th, 2003 10:31 pmYup. If you read
damashita's journal, you've seen that we're replacing the aging silver beast. If not, to recap in a nutshell- we're getting a '94 Grand Caravan from a mechanic friend of hers for basically what it costs to replace the transmission- he's checked it out and will be doing a few other things on it but says that it's in sound mechanical condition and probably would have gone quite a lot longer for its previous owners if they'd checked the fluids occasionally, but since they didn't they ended up with a seized differential.
Anyway, since we're closing in on the point where we'll have need for space for a pair of car seats and would like to be able to haul around friends in relative comfort as well, it seems like a worthwhile investment- especially at what should amount to a third of the dealer retail price cited on the Edmunds' website.
Oh, yeah- and did i mention we'll have room to take friends places?
So, if anyone in the area has use for a beater car, we've a '90 Ford Taurus to sell. Front windshield should be replaced, it'll need at least a minor transmission service- i think it's just the filter is in need of cleaning, but may need seals also- but it has a reasonably new front end and power steering pump and, all in all is in pretty decent running shape, and is in good external shape.
Went out thrift shopping with
damashita and alexander today- came back with a few really good deals. Also had our daily allotment of hottoasterlovin' from
hottoastermama, who kept me apprised of the score of the Wings-Oilers game to boot, since she was watching it. Woohoo! Not only does she tolerate us, but she's a hockey fan, and more specifically a Wings fan. Might just have to keep her. ;-)
