ravencallscrowsOK, it's official. I am definitely an addict.
I almost can't believe i'm sitting watching Slovakia being upset by Germany after watching the Leafs beat the Habs pretty easily, and plan to watch Latvia play Austria later. Hockey is almost as much fun to watch as it is to play.
I'm pretty disgusted with NBC's Olympics coverage so far, but plan to rely on CBC for most of it (except the hockey games, which will be mostly on CNBC). Someone needs to introduce Bob Costas to a ball gag. That man needs to learn to shut up in a major way. On the CBC side, Ron MacLean is doing the same wonderful job he does with Hockey Night in Canada and is being nothing less than the consummate professional.
Thinking about the Olympics, i'd like to see the whole emphasis on countries go away and be replaced (with the exception of team events) with one on individual performers. The way NBC covers things, i almost find myself cheering against Americans, because i'm so disgusted with the partisan fawning of most of the announcers. Shifting the emphasis to individuals would allow coverage to pick the interesting events and happenings, and cover them without all of the jingoistic flag-waving bullshit.
Anyway, it's time for the start of the 3rd period of Slovakia-Germany, with the Germans up by a surprise 2-0
