Well, i managed to get a little writing done last night- the completion of the storm which moved Alexei, Barinthus and crew away from Laighis, their attempt to land on the Island of Giant Ants, and their landfall on the Island of Birds. I'm finding that the translated text from which the original journey of Maelduin comes is complete with a very neo-shamanic commentary, which doesn't mesh really well with where my post-modern retelling is going, so I'm going to ignore as much of it as possible for the reworking. Unfortunately, the original Irish text of Immram Curaig Maelduin Inso is very brief in detailing Maelduin's contact with some of the islands (as in only a line or two), which doesn't lend much framework for the purposes of writing around it.
