As any regular reader here knows, i'm a huge hockey fan. One of my favourite teams is the Detroit Red Wings, who were coached by the legendary Scotty Bowman through last season. Bowman retired after the Wings won the Stanley Cup last season. Tonight the Wings are playing against the Florida Panthers down in Sunrise, Florida (just outside Miami), and the game is on TV (because the local cable company is running a week-long preview of NHL Centre Ice, trying to get people to buy the service). After the first period (forgettable), the Panthers broadcast crew had Scotty as a guest between periods. He talked about life in retirement and watching the World Junior Championships which just ended this weekend with Russia defeating Canada 3-2 in the final). Anyway, Bowman's living in Sarasota- on the Gulf Coast about an hour south of Tampa. Yes, that would be the same Sarasota you've heard me mention living in seven years ago, back in the newspaper and Ruth Ellen days.
And now for something completely different:
As threatened last Friday, i'm writing again. Not completely sure where this story is going, but it'll run vignette length, which means it's not too long to post here behind a cut tag if i still like it when it's complete. It's going to be set in a friend's apartment, just because i rarely forget either a threat or a promise, but aside from that, it'll be completely fictional, just so no one decides to read anything into it.
