Ended up being a nice weekend, in spite of the rocky start Friday evening.
Wandered downtown with alexander- walked down to Pioneer Square and just kinda hung out together. He's a good little kid, even if it does take three hours to motivate him to get dressed to go out.
Quiet night Saturday. Just stayed in a watched hockey with alexander. Drank enough beer during the course of both games to determine that it is possible to drink quickly enough to outpace the beer-induced output, but that doing so is decidedly a thing for college students to do. The first game was forgettable, and made me wish for that other trait of college students- the ability to drink beer rapidly enough to feel the effects thereof. The nightcap was a fun one to watch- Vancouver clearly outplayed Phoenix, and showed themselves to be only a player or two from being a legitimate contender- primarily someone to contribute on the power play.
Today, our daytime went about the same- went shopping and wandered through the Market. Ended up buying myself two pairs of pants and the new Tori Amos CD. Haven't listened to it yet, but watched the first song on the DVD which came with the package (since Borders' had the limited edition with a DVD on sale for only a few dollars more than just the CD itself), and felt oddly reminiscent. It reminded me of the Under the Pink and Boys for Pele material. Some of Tori's mannerisms have changed a little over the last six years, but all in all, she's still, in spite of it all, in many ways the little girl i had the biggest crush on when we first met in the mid-eighties and the woman of the mid to late nineties who cried in my arms on an April night in Tampa and made me laugh at myself in spite of it all yet again in October. I can't help but wonder what would have happened if we had gotten together back in '85 or hadn't in '96. I'm not questioning the decisions i've made, just ruminating at how different life might have been. She still has a well-earned place in my top five of most passionate kissers and will always have a special place in my heart, but you probably don't want to read my ruminations about her anymore. If you do, ask me in person sometime.
Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] damashita made it back from her weekend away seemingly recharged, and we had dinner with Jay and Andy at the Mexican restaurant in Magnolia village- always good to see Jay, and now that he's moved to Ballard from Mt. Vernon and has demonstrated that distance wasn't a necessity in his relationship with Andy, we'll probably see them more often. :-)
