Sep. 7th, 2002 09:42 pmHoles. Nail holes, screw holes. I'm surprised there was enough wall to hold all of those holes. Apparently at least one former resident worked in the Soviet domestic construction industry- there were some things done in such an incredibly shoddy manner- like brackets for vertical blinds attached first with screws, then when the screws pulled out, nailed into the wall. After several hours worth of work, though, all the nails and screws have been removed, the holes filled and (mostly) sanded, the windows steam-cleaned and recaulked.
Tomorrow is going to be yet another challenge- painting. I'd hoped to get a jump on it, but all the paints are fairly light, and the sun was going down, which would likely have made it nearly impossible to distinguish painted from unpainted areas, so we'll be starting in on it bright and early.
Even worse, even though we had someone who was committed to coming to help, and a few more tentatively showing up, as of this evening, everyone's cancelled; so it looks as if it's going to be just us. All you folk who are reading this after sleeping off the effects of the masquerade at the Mercury tonight are welcome to atone for your decadent evening (can't you tell i'd have loved to be there? Waaaaaah!) and help those who weren't fortunate enough to be able to attend throw some paint on our walls. Even though the phone isn't hooked up at the new place yet, i'll have the mobile phone on and awaiting calls from anyone who can spare even an hour or so to lend a hand and take a look at the new digs. We'll have chips and soda; and white chili for dinner (available in both vegan and carnivore styles). If you don't have the mobile number, it's 360.202.4326.
