ravencallscrowsBleh! In meetings at work most of the day. At least i have a tangible reason, which can be vouchsafed by my calendar, why i didn't get anything done today.
Oh, yes. I have a meeting with my HR rep tomorrow. It should go reasonably well, at least judging from the comments i've gotten from some of the other people who work in the company who have been to HR before and have heard my descriptions of what's going on here. To quote one of them, "You do realize that HR is going to totally ass-f*ck your boss, don't you?"
I hope they do. He deserves it. I'd just settle for a) him not being able to give me a bad review because i was given no negative feedback until i turned in my review; and b) the right to interview with other departments so that i can try to get a job where i can at least read the interfaces with which i'm working. If i have to stay put here, i want a detailed, itemized list of what's expected of me each week, so that i have a tangible checklist to show that i'm doing everything asked of me (as i've been doing since i've been here).
Worst case scenario (unless i got fired, which would at least save me the driving every day to be here and the stresses of dealing with a position in which i'm just a bad fit) is that they'll tell me i have to stay and i get screwed on my review. I'm prepared for that contingency. If that's all the loyalty the company feels it owes me, that's all i owe them. I've already sent resumes out for a few different positions, and have one in the hands of a recruiter who places contract temps, with pretty specific limitations of what i'd like to do.
I'm feeling better about this already. Hopefully i'll walk out of that meeting tomorrow feeling better still.
