ravencallscrowsBrought the laptop to work today, figuring i might be able to fit in some writing time since our Hindi builds have been fubared for about a month now, and i can kick off automation to do the setup testing on the Arabic ones.
*BRZZZZZZAPPPPP* Wrong answer! Try again next time. Yeah, Hindi is still messed up, but the automation is broken AGAIN for Arabic, and over the weekend we managed to get two different releases, so the older of the two needs to be checked against the one before it, then the newer one against the older one, so that we have comprehensive lists of the files which have changed in each one to verify that the files are changed appropriately (no cross-language stuff like Hebrew files showing up in the Arabic builds [Thai currently has Hebrew files which have crept into it, for no apparent reason]), and that they match the changes in the installer tables showing which files the installer logic thinks have changed. This is a really time-consuming, pain-in-the-ass task that's pretty much pointless to do until the last eight weeks or so before a product releases to manufacturing, because otherwise there's so much churn of stuff changing it's just extraneous data (there are about 480 changed files per build)> But my boss wants to see that it's getting done, even if he never looks at it.
Have i mentioned recently how much i hate my fucking job? Toddler-scribble languages AND pointless busy work.
Well, i'm avenging myself on the automation guy. He's gonna automate ALL of my Tier 1 test matrix and as much of Tier 2 as I can get him to. I'd probably rather write the tests myself rather than have to deal with him, because that way it'd work the way i want it to, but he gets paid to write automation.
