Today was a hard day.

[livejournal.com profile] maighdeanmhara, again, i'm sorry that things went the way they did. We'll get past this, though. If it had been a bit easier of a day, you'd have had a chance to meet [livejournal.com profile] mistress_gaelan, who is an absolutely wonderful person in her own regard.

[livejournal.com profile] mistress_gaelan, thank you for the book- it's wonderful; and for being an absolutely wonderful friend for [livejournal.com profile] damashita for the times when she can't vent to (or at!) me.

Off to watch the sunrise at Newgrange (well, it'll be a few hours away still) via webcast availabe through Heritage Ireland, and then, a few hours later, the sunset at Maeshowe (link here). There's something about the precision of the alignment of these Neolithic sites- chambered cairns et alius which is just simply amazing. If you'd like a look, there are some photos of the Winter Solstice sunrises in years past at Knowth.com, and Charles Tait (who so graciously gave permission to use the photo of the Ring of Brodgar) has some animations and stills of the Maeshowe sunsets on the aforementioned page.

The light will be returning- the darkness has not overcome it.
