Only one lap of Green Lake today, in part because of the exceptionally nice Seattle weather- it drove more people to the park, resulting in having to dodge more clumps of for and five abreast (taking up the entire width of the foot traffic area and spilling into the wheeled area) and people who figured that having distinct areas for skaters/bikers and walkers meant everyone
except them. Eighteen minutes and three seconds for the 4.5km/2.8 miles, which works out to 4'/km or 6'27/mile- and included a skate-lace tightening.
lokheed, you were bang on on your mechanics observation- my stride is a little off, with the left one being slightly longer than the right and finishing in a slightly different foot-position. Other than paying really close attention to trying to equalize the two, i'm not sure how to fix this- and it may just be a function of time and getting the kinesiology to work itself out as the muscles (especially around my right knee) adjust to what they're doing.
The month-end goal- 4.5 min/km, 7 min/mi over three laps feels achievable.
