Hockey game this morning. After a season which has been spent mostly playing defence (and being the responsible sort,
darkmuffin usually hangs back to prevent the other team from getting in behind the blueliners), alexander spent today's game at centre and left wing- and came out of it with two points- an assist and the game winning goal. We did some talking about skating, and figured that taking the boys and getting rental skates for
scootercomputer at $3 per trip would buy him a pair in fairly short order, so it was off to Play It Again Sports, where we found a pair which would give him some growing room and which we'll probably be able to trade back in for the next size up when appropriate. While there, we also found a helmet with face shield (rather than wire cage). The helmet fits alexander, who isn't sure he wants a shield. If he doesn't, it should fit my helmet (he wears an adult medium helmet already)- i've wanted one for a while. The best part, though, was his brother with his new blades.
Nicholas just lights up when he's particularly happy, and turned on the 1.5 terawatt smile- "I have new HOCKEY SKATES!!!!!"
So we went back to Seattle Centre as planned, and watched the winter solstice fire show- which was amazing, and ended up taking the boys skating after dinner. Nicholas would have skated all night, and is ready to go back. He fell asleep in the car on the way home, and basically didn't wake at all in making the transition inside, including taking his coat and shoes off.
