Maybe it's an artifact of having been reading Douglas Hofsteader lately, but in listening closely to the Tchaikovsky score, i was amazed how canonical it is, not just within the individual pieces, but even between them residual themes recur.
I'm also reading Cherie Priest's (aka
wicked_wish) new novel, Wings to the Kingdom, and have been amazed at how smoothly the narritive flows. Through nine chapters, i have only a slight quibble- not to give away any of the story, but at one point a soldier is mentioned as having fought with a particular brigade for a particular regiment. These words are put in the mouth of someone attending a Sons of Confederate Veterans event, but flow backwards- the soldier would have served in (not for) the regiment, which was a part of the brigade. No Southerner that vested in the War Between the States would have tangled up the units that way. ;-)
Are Pete and Rudy connected to the Macombers in any way, Cherie? Sand Mountain isn't quite in the right area of the state to have had representatives in Deas' Brigade, but I'm guessing the proximity to Stone Mountain is more the key there. ;-)
