Today, the 'emergency' problem over the weekend was revealed- by the absent and out-of-phone-range sysadmin to be a known issue- seems the IP address for one of the two servers involved was incorrectly set in the web.config file. Apparently, it's something he's been changing manually- and not making publically known- for the last two or three months.

'Livid' is too mild a word for how i felt when i found out about this.
