Fun With Recruiters, Part n+1
Jul. 20th, 2006 09:11 amBelieve it or not, not Volt folk this time. I think they finally got things settled in their database.
No, this time was just about as bad as all the Volt ones combined. My personal inbox this morning had a total of seven positions, all sent under separate cover from the same individual. This merited an e-mail response, reproduced here on the off-chance it'll amuse someone:

| I have to say, I've seen zealous recruiting attempts before, and then there's going beyond. Your organization has now distinguished itself and earned a place in the latter classification. I'm not actively looking for a new job, so imagine my surprise to check my e-mail this morning and see not one or two positions, but SEVEN. This brings up a question: Do you read resumes or at least contextually scan them for keywords before emailing prospective candidates about your positions? I'd strongly recommend that you read the resumes, but if you're using a system to scan for keywords, you need to take the time to review what matches it's generating. Sending seven positions to a single candidate overnight may not be excessive if it's someone with whom you've established a working relationship and focused on a single area defined by the individual's interests and skillset as those areas intersect with the openings for which you're recruiting. Unfortunately, the seven you sent me aren't focused at all. They range from senior systems administrator roles to data analyst and even to what looked like an entry-level help-desk person- as if you've taken the shotgun approach to recruitment. Based on what I've seen, I have absolutely no interest in being placed in any position by an organization as woefully incompetent as yours. I'm not likely to leave a full time, permanent position for a short term contract (most of the seven were 3-6 months), would be unlikely to do so for a perfect-fit year-long contract, and definitely won't even waste anyone's time attempting to interview for things which are so drastically skewed to my experience and interests. About the only thing you got right was that all these positions are relatively local to me. Please, take me out of your contact database. I'd sooner struggle to find a job alone than be represented by an organization of which my first impression was that they're a collection of untrained idiots. Snarkily yours, |
