Who Will Hoist the Clarkson Cup?

Just another reason why hockey is the greatest sport on earth. Following in the steps of Arthur, Lord Stanley of Preston, Governor-General of the Dominion of Canada from 1888 to 1893, former Governor-General of Canada the Right Honourable Adrienne Louise Clarkson, has presented a cup to the Canadian national women's hockey team with the intention that the trophy be awarded annually to the team which wins the national women's championship. Happy birthday, nancyblue!

I can't figure out something which is going on at work right now. Three times in succession now, i've had an idea which i wanted to run with in terms of defining policy and practices, and (this would be the shocking part) have gotten support from the guy in charge.

I'm now defining what needs to be provided before software can be released- requiring basic documentation etc- all logical, sensible stuff. I'm also proceeding to work out the needs for a release engineering/QFE (don't say Maintenance!) team including a tester and a developer which could handle urgent issues outside of the established release schedule and work on building tools to facilitate the release process. We're reaching a point where everyone else is so committed to doing things on their schedule that they don't have time to do anything else- which was pretty predictable, and apparently now people are reaching a realization that there might have been a really valid reason why i kept pushing for it before.
