Well, last night was fun.

No offense intended to the people at Lila's, but if they want to stay in business, there are a few things they need to figure out. First off, if you want to have a dance club; and the DJ plays music, but people don't dance to it, there might be a problem with what he's playing. Also, having a DJ who doubles as door person isn't a particularly good idea. If you want "the community" to support your new club, it'd be in your best interest to make it a nice, attractive place and to play music which brings people in and back. After two experiences there now, it'd take a glowing review from a few people i know to get me to go back. I'm that unimpressed.

[livejournal.com profile] ayeshadream, [livejournal.com profile] damashita and i went last night, and stayed for forty-five minutes. The place has been modified from when it first opened, and many of what were originally open spaces have been partitioned off with drywall and doorways. Unfortunately, the drywall work wasn't finished- it was raw drywall, with no paint or anything on it. I've been in unfinished basements which felt homey-er. The sound system, which seemed pretty decent the first time has apparently been reduced to a pair of speakers, which were stacked on top of each other, pointed in different directions. Volume seemed to be the attempted compensation for the lack of sonic quality.

Anyway, enough about that. Three-quarters of an hour was enough, and, although the music may have gotten significantly better later, i hold out little hope that it actually did. So we left there, and went to the B&O on Capitol Hill for coffee or whatever. The three of us ended up with whatever- desserts and drinks, and much fun ensued. I'll leave it to one of them to talk about the interesting things one can do with change.

Today things have continued- the traditional Sunday trip to the Ballard Market. Not sure what's on the agenda for this evening, but i'm sure something will come up, even if it's just watching fireworks from home or putting on a movie.
