There are five— count 'em, five— people in the office today. Our admin assistant, the temp who's trying to figure out our build labelling process, a graphic designer, one other tester and myself.

Thinking i'd do something productive, i pulled all the existing automation from our repository and found that none of the scripts work. Most of 'em won't even compile, because they have syntactical errors or the like. LoadRunner has to be one of the worst-documented pieces of software with which i've ever had to work- it's possible to copy examples directly out of its reference guide (which allegedly tells how to write automation to utilize its different functions) and have them fail to work. Looking around, D., the other tester, is noodling around on the web; E., the graphic designer, is pricing out different options for the new computer mentioned here last week, and S., our admin, is balancing her checkbook.

Looks like everyone feels as productive as i do right about now. OK, so much for working on automation right now. It was a good idea while it lasted, but the motivation is gone, especially since getting it working will entail rewriting all of the scripts. I'm just not feeling quite that ambitious. Wonder when we're closing the place down today? Yesterday we all left about an hour early— i'm guessing today may not last even that long.

And then there were four.

And three of those four just finished a conversation in the hallway talking about how no one's doing anything today other than nosing around on the web, personal e-mail, etc.

Work ended at about 2 today. Work-related e-mail stopped coming in at 9:17.

Rather than coming straight home when i left, i took a side-trip. I had a Borders' gift card (not a holiday thing- i've had it since [livejournal.com profile] ajka's birthday party and just didn't ever happen to have it with me when i was in there) and some unexpected cash, so it was time to acquire some new ear-candy- ordinarily this would be books, but i've a pretty sizable reading backlog to get through still, and haven't bought music in ages. So i bought Tori Amos' Tales of a [livejournal.com profile] rowanf. No, wait. Librarian. That's it. Tales of a Librarian and VNV Nation's Empires. Came home, watched part of Great Big DVD with my favourite group of Newfoundlanders, and took a nap with [livejournal.com profile] scootercomputer who's busily growing again- most all of the time he's eating, wanting to be held or sleeping.

Snow!

Big, wet, not-going-to-last-long flakes, but already more accumulation than all of last year (when we had, oh, three flakes, all of which evaporated upon reaching the ground). Snow and snow showers expected to continue through the night, changing to snow/rain in the morning. Expected accumulations under an inch (which will be just enough for people to drive like complete morons).
